Student Council Updates 1/17

January was an eventful month here in Florence. In the beginning of this month, the students in the musical The Little Mermaid started their practices after school.  The annual musical will be held on March 9, 10, and 11.

The winter sports records as followed, boys basketball have a record of 12-3, girls basketball has a record of 5-8, and our co-op wrestling team, which partners with Bordentown,  has a record of 14-6.

NHS events from this past month included. Science night at the Charter School, on January 10th in which the NHS members helped out Mrs.Stobie by performing scientific experiments with the charter school students. On  January 14th the NHS members helped out with the Florence Township Memorial High School Clothing drive by loading the bags of clothes and receiving donations for the annual clothing drive. NHS upcoming events include serving a dinner at Trinity Methodist Church,  a carnation sale, and assisting the school nurse with a clothing drive.

The Interact Club and Student Council also have many things going on this month as both groups also helped with the clothing drive. They are currently putting together chemo comfort bags that will be delivered to cancer patients at a local hospital. Over the next few weeks, the groups will be working together to make valentine cards and gifts for residents at Brookdale, the assisted living facility, in Florence

Another event that went on this month at FHS was the presentation of Project Pride. This was an assembly where four prisoners came in to talk to students about the mistakes they have made in their lives to help keep the students on the right path.  It was a very informative event.
