March 18, 2016

Dear Roebling Families,

I cannot believe how quickly this year is going by for all of us at Roebling School. I am excited to tell you about some great things that are happening as we enter our final trimester for the 2015-2016 school year. All of the teachers are working extremely hard ensuring to meet your child’s academic needs. In part when using your child´s learning level to drive instruction, we have started grade level 30 minute sessions of direct instruction focusing on improving your child’s academic performance. This 30 minute session meets four times a week with the intention to improve word decoding, fluency, comprehension, and extending our language arts lessons. Many of the students are given the opportunity to work on Chromebooks and iPads in small groups during some of these sessions allowing for more one-to-one technology time.

In other news, the students and staff will be celebrating World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st by having a mini dance-a-thon and wearing the colors blue and yellow. In addition, the students had a visit on March 15th from Officer Vesci and Mr. Brown, the Florence Township Security Officer, to encourage good choices by reminding students about school safety.

In regards to safety, it is extremely important and mandatory that all visitors to Roebling School report directly to the main office when entering the building. No one is permitted to go through the building without a visible visitor’s badge. Furthermore, I want to strongly encourage that if you need to pick up your child(ren) before our regular dismissal time that you do so no later than 2:15p.m. This allows for a much smoother dismissal and ensures all staff are getting our students safely back to you.

Finally, I ask that you make time during the next week to look and see if any items that your child(ren) has misplaced so far during the school year can be found in our lost and found collection located on the stage in the cafeteria. All unclaimed items will be donated over spring break. Spring break begins on Friday March 25th and school will be back in session on April 4th. The students and staff have a half day on Thursday, March 24th and will be dismissed at 1 p.m.

As always, thank you for all you do at Roebling School, not only for your child, but for all the children. If you have any questions feel free to call or email me directly at Please note, emailing me from the school website has had a few delivery problems but has since been corrected. If you use the website and do not receive a reply within a reasonable time frame please call or email me directly from your email account. Thank you again and have a safe and wonderful spring break.
