We hope you are enjoying your last few weeks of summer vacation! As communicated at the August 24th Board of Education meeting, the Florence Township School District (FTSD) will begin the school year on a Full Remote/Virtual plan September 8 - 18th. The District has worked diligently over the past few months preparing for September. This decision was not made lightly nor was it made without reason. Starting September 8th teachers will be in their classrooms teaching live to students who will be home virtually learning. Please see the full presentation below for more detailed information. The Hybrid schedule with our Blue/Gold groups will begin on September 21st.
During this global pandemic, we have worked endlessly to maintain safety first for our district. The district has ordered various supplies and materials to prepare for our reopening, spending over $150,000 in unbudgeted items. These unbudgeted items include such things as:approximately 1,000 pairs of gloves,60 gallons of hand sanitizers,550 individual hand sanitizers,6,380 masks,212 clear mouth masks,60 face shields,800 plexiglass desk sneeze guards,20 rolling plexiglass dividers,300 tubs/individual disinfecting wipes,12 cleaning sprayers,12 walk-up thermometer checks,14 temperature scanners,730 floor makers/signs for directions and entry, additional computer and wifi upgrades.
As always our main concern is for the safety, security and well being of our students, teachers, and staff. We are passionate about reopening but also realistic in anticipating a different opening than in past years. We truly appreciate the patience and support you've provided us since March and hope we can all continue to work together for our students and our schools.
