🗳️ THE CHIP ELECTION! 🥔
On Election Day, our third graders participated in a delicious democratic experience! 🇺🇸
Students sampled Lay’s Classic vs. Lay’s Wavy potato chips, then put their persuasive writing skills to work by explaining why they believed their chip was superior. After making their cases, they exercised their right to vote and cast their ballots!
🥁 And the winner is… LAY’S WAVY! 🎉
Our classes had so much fun combining persuasive writing, critical thinking, and civics while learning about the power of our voices and our votes!

On this last day of October, we could not let it pass without giving a big shoutout to our school building principals who give 100% each day! Thank you for your dedication to our students, staff and school!
This week it's been all about pumpkins! After our field trip to a pumpkin patch/farm, we explored the pumpkins with our five senses, estimated how many seeds there were, counted them out, painted, and had the best time celebrating fall!

📅 November 2–13 -- Send in your leftover/wrapped candy to school and help us turn those extra treats into smiles for our troops! All donated candy will be given to SEWA International, who will distribute it to our brave men and women serving our country!
💙💛 Let's show our troops some Flashes love and appreciation — one sweet treat at a time! Look for the "Candy Monsters" at the front entrance of all 3 schools!

🔎📚 Mrs. Schuler & Mrs. Gores 3rd graders became text feature detectives!
Students searched magazines for text and graphic features, then cut, sorted, and glued their discoveries onto life-size paper people! From photographs and captions to diagrams and labels, our displays brought these reading tools to life.
Along the way, we explored how authors use these features to help readers find information, understand new ideas, and learn more about a topic. Look at the creativity and teamwork that went into our hallway of learning! ✂️💛

We are having so much fun during GROW in Mrs. Voorhees' 1st grade class! Today we practiced adding 2 digits and finding the sum.
Learning short vowels is more fun with vowel tents! Ms. Denny’s first-grade class is putting what we learned during Orton-Gillingham professional development into practice with this engaging, hands-on activity. Our young readers loved learning while having fun! 📚✨
